Private Thoughts of Child Abuse and the Helping Profession

Mark,

As you know, I am going to school to obtain my psych degree. After 16 yr in the nursing profession I have watched the care of people go down the tubes. The administration and insurance companies have made a caring and compassion field into one of overwork and where patients don't get that genuine caring we as nurses love to give.

I can only speak for myself, I have been a child victim. I know first hand what it does to the heart and soul of a human being. I thank God I never was in the care of these psychologist/psychiatrists you speak of.  The damage of the soul and heart of a nine yr old girl was great. Much care had to be given once she was an adult. Still to this day some symptoms remain. No child should ever have to go through the trauma of being raped by a family member. But it happens all the time.

The nine yr old girl was me. The experiences I have had made me realize just what I could do to help other women who have been in the same situation. That's why I chose to go into psychology and specialize in women's mental health. There are so many other women out there, who, just like me were raped and betrayed by the family they love deeply. I go into this with LOVE in my heart and GOD in my soul.
